A wireless home security system can monitor your entire home for unwanted intruders, fire and even carbon monoxide. These wireless systems give you the ability to arm your home against dangers without requiring you to hardwire each zone you wish to protect. You can even attach these units to your phone lines to make emergency calls to authorities. Connecting a siren to a wireless security system can alert you to intruders or fire, and the noise emitted by the siren can help lead authorities to your location.

Position the base of the wireless siren over the anchors or pilot holes. Screw the mount to the wall. Install the batteries in the wireless sirens that require a separate battery backup. Some sires have built-in 6-volt batteries that recharge when they are connected to the electricity. Hang wireless sirens on the mounting screw for those sirens that do not come apart.

Plug the AC adaptor into the opening on the wireless siren. Plug the adaptor into the wall outlet. Replace the cover on those units that come apart and secure the cover with the screw you removed prior to mounting.

Program your wireless home security system to recognize the siren. Place the home security control panel in the “learning” mode or the “enroll siren” mode. Depending on the brand and model, this requires pushing a button on the panel until the unit emits a beep, or scrolling through a menu. Some learning buttons are on the sirens.

Press the learning button or the “OK” button so the control panel begins to recognize the siren. Press the home or add button, or press a test button on the siren.
